Property visit - The Nature unveils

Green Woods forms an ecosystem in itself. The resident naturalist at Green Woods will guide these tours where the objective is to provide guests with an intimate understanding of the fascinating ways in which nature functions, the mutual dependencies that all species form with one another and thereby the need to conserve and sustain ecosystems.

The nature tours start at the resort where as part of an environment conservation awareness initiative the naturalist will take guests walking through the property where a profusion of flowers, fruits, spice plants and trees all thrive and are home to fascinating variety of endemic and migratory birds. The trees and plants have all been meticulously tagged with their botanical names and places of origin.Guests are also encouraged to plant a tree during the course of the tour. Next guest are taken to the resorts waste management where organic waste is treated. Situated next door is a large cattle shed where an endemic breed of 'Vechur' cows are housed.

The benefits of trees - not only do they absorb greenhouse gas emissions, but also improve the quality of air, help recycle water besides offering us the comfort of the shade of their branches. The simple act of planting trees will help to sustain the environment on our property and in a small way contribute to the larger mission of global environmental protection. The Plant a Tree program at Green Woods makes it easy for our guests to help offset the effects of carbon emissions and global warming.

Sari / Dhoti Demonstration

A sari or saree is a female garment worn with a blouse and petticoat in countries on the Indian sub- continent that consists of drape varying from two to nine yards in length and two to four feet in breadth that is typically wrapped around the waist, with one end draped over the shoulder, baring the midriff.The sari is associated with grace and is widely regarded as a symbol of culture.

The dhoti is a traditional men's garment worn in India. It is a length of rectangular piece of unstitched cloth, wrapped around the waist and the legs and knotted at the waist, resembling a long skirt.

The staff at Green Woods will organize a demonstration of how theses garments are draped and guests may also learn how do to do so and drape themselves in the garments.

The Cultural Feast in the evening

Kerala is a veritable treasure trove of both classical and folk performing art forms.Artists are invited to Green Woods and performances staged every evening for the benefit of our guests.

Ethnic Cusine Demonstration

The chef at Green Woods will conduct daily half hour cooking demonstrations and explanations of a vegetarian and one non vegetarian dishes of Kerala's ethnic cuisine. Guest may also take lessons in learning how to cook these dishes.

Indoor game

Green Woods offer a range of indoor games and in resort facilities including a children park with many activity and game areas, a trampoline, table tennis, carom board, chess, foosball(table football).

Thekkady Show

The Thekkady area is multifarious in scope and impossible to experience in its entirety during a brief visit. The resident naturalist at Green Woods will conduct an audio visual presentation on the many fascinating aspects of the geography of the Thekkady, its fauna and flora besides the cultures of indigenous people who are for greater part forest dwellers.
