This is a mountain top whose name literally means ‘mountain of the Cross’. It is an enjoyable trek for those who are up for a light hiking session.
One can catch a scenic view of the Periya Lake, Kumily Town and vast expanses of land from the nearing state of Tamil Nadu from the view point of Kurisumala. Located 3 kilometres from Vazhikkadavu the mountain is a popular Christain pilgrimage centre , Every year during the Holy Week, thousands of Christian devotees flock this mountain top to pay homage by carrying small wooden crosses. There is also on the eastern side of the mountain, a small hill called ‘Muruganmala’ which is home to a rock cut temple that is dedicated to Murugan who was the son of Hindu God Shiva.
